Step 1
Look for an outfit that is comfortable. When you are traveling you will probably be sitting for a long period of time. You need to choose clothing that is not restrictive and that allows you to move around into different positions to become comfortable. You want to make sure that you can relax in those clothes and, for example, take a nap, assuming you are not driving.
Step 2
Pick an outfit that's practical. Depending on what it is that you are going to be doing and how you are going to be traveling, you may want to make sure you have on an outfit that has pockets. It might be that, if you are traveling by air, you may want to be able to have pockets to carry various personal items such as a stick of gum or something similar. If you are traveling in your car it is obviously not as important that you have pockets, so feel free to choose an outfit that may be more comfortable but pocketless.
Step 3
Check the weather in your destination and dress appropriate to the weather. If you are traveling during cold weather you’ll want to be sure and dress in layers. That way, if you get hot you can remove a layer of clothing to cool yourself down. Remember you can always take a layer of clothing off if you have it on; whereas if you don’t have that extra layer of clothing with you then there is not really any good way to get warm.
Step 4
Dress appropriate to the occasion. If you are traveling for business and if you are going to be met at your destination by others in your company or a company you are doing business with you will want to dress appropriately. Dress in such a way that it meets the standards of the company you are representing.
Step 5
Insure that your traveling day outfit matches your destination. If you are flying out of Michigan and arriving in Florida you’ll look awful silly getting off the plane wearing a parka. Make sure you know what the weather is going to be like at your destination and dress accordingly.
