How to Plan a Trip to the Beach

Step 1
It gets HOT, carry some shade!
The first thing to consider when planning your trip to the beach is how your set up will be at your spot. You can make it as simple as having a blanket or towels on the ground to lay down but if you have kids, you may want to consider having a beach umbrella. Children burn so easily in the sun and with the sun beating down on you, you could be feeling your trip for days. Having an umbrella to sit under offers you some shade and relief from the heat, if you need it. You may also want to bring some folding chairs to relax in.
Step 2
Protect your skin!
The second step in planning your trip is to plan for what you expect will be needed. Bring lots of towels, sun screen and water. You can save a bit of money by filling a cooler with ice, soft drinks or water, sandwiches, fruit and chips. Also realize that most parking by a beach is not free so you should have a few dollars of quarters with you and also up to $20 in cash. If you plan to play in the water with a boogie board, surf board or water games like paddle tennis, bring those too.
Step 3
Plan for the unexpected.
The third step in planning your trip is to plan for the unexpected. Carry some cash with you in case you buy any ice cream from a traveling vendor, decide to go to dinner at a local restaurant, or want to play at an arcade or pier. Also, make sure you have a first aid kit in your car in the event one is needed. Finally, have an extra set of clothes in your car in the event that the clothes you came in get dirty or wet and you need to put on fresh clothing.I hope you have a great time! Enjoy the beach!
